国台学术报告 NAOC COLLOQUIUM 2012年 第09次 / Number 09, 2012 Speaker: Dr. Greg Herczeg (KIAA) Time: Wednesday, 3:00 PM, Mar. 14, 2012 Location: NAOC A601   Dr. Greg Herczeg is a Bairen Research Professor at Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Peking University. He did his Ph.D at the University of Colorado. He was a postdoctoroal scholar at Caltech since 2005. His research interest lies primarily in Accretion onto young stars, disk dissipation mechanisms and disk structure, observational diagnostics of wind launching mechanisms, pre-main sequence stellar evolution, chromospheric and coronal activity around dwarf stars.           Abstract: The Herschel Space Observatory is currently providing an unprecedented view of the far-infrared sky.  Herschel's unique spectral and imaging capabilities in this key wavelength region are revolutionizing our views of star and planet formation.  In this talk, I will review how Herschel has changed our understanding of pre-main sequence stellar evolution, including the structure of cold molecular clouds and initial collapse of a protostar, feedback between the star and surrounding envelope, and the structure and chemistry of proto-planetary disks.        All are welcome！Tea, coffee, biscuits will be served at 2:45 P.M.
